Pricing guide
Building your own trailer can be a much more cost effective option than purchasing a mass produced trailer, particularly for the more heavy duty and special purpose designs.
The cost of steel will generally fall between $150-$600 depending on the design and local steel prices/availability. The main components required to get your trailer on the road can be sourced extremely cheaply if buying second hand or re-using old parts you have in the workshop, or can easily max your budget out if choosing high end trailer parts like alloy rims and low profile tyres.
When you're building your own trailer using our trailer plans, you will find a parts list on the main general arrangement drawing that details the parts required, how many of each and the drawing number they are detailed on (if they are custom parts).
As a good indication of what the main purchased trailer parts a mid-high range budget would cost, we have selected the recommended parts categorized by aggregate trailer mass (ATM) and axle count.
