If you need to tow a car, then we have a selection of car trailers for you.
Our Airbag Car Trailer plans are popular with many of our happy customers. The trailer design has an ATM of 2800kg and weighs approximately 600kg, therefore it can haul vehicles that weigh around 2200kg.
If you want to go for something heavier duty, we have a 3500kg ATM tandem axle trailer which has a tare weight of approximately 700kg – giving you a loading capacity of around 2800kg. Perfect for moving big SUV’s, 4WD’s or even smaller vehicles with the utmost of overkill.
Our Beavertail Trailer is an iconic design that gives you a low loading angle and is budget friendly to build. This reliable trailer has an ATM of 2800kg and weighs approximately 600kg allowing you to haul loads up to 2200kg.
Your other toy hauler option is our 2500kg ATM tandem car trailer which weighs in at about 400kg giving you a loading capacity of 2100kg, more than enough for most small to medium vehicles.
Is it cheaper to build your own car trailer?
Building your own car trailer can be cheaper than purchasing one, but it really depends on what you want. You can buy a basic ‘run of the mill’ tandem axle trailer brand new for just under AU$4,000 and it will do the job.

what is the best size for a car trailer?
The best size car trailer for you is highly dependent on what you’re going to haul. If you’ve got an old Mini Cooper or Torana race car you’re going to be transporting, then something small will be easier to build and store.
The weight capacity of the trailer is also something that you need to consider. If you plan on towing larger 4WD’s you will need to build a trailer with a higher ATM.

what is included in your car trailer plans?
All our car trailer plans include detailed engineering drawings of the chassis frame, ramp and deck which include necessary weld specifications.
We don’t include too much detail around specific trailer parts such as brakes, wheel setups, hitch etc., as these items are available from many different suppliers around the world – we try and keep our plans as generic as possible.
